The Main Reasons Why People Travel

February 17, 2020

There are two levels of answers to the question of why people travel. The first is the obvious one, and most likely the reason we give a quote and ourselves to others. We journey so that we may see sights, experience other cultures, attend events and find out more about the planet.

These are exciting factors. But there are deeper reasons for traveling which have less to do with what we perform once we travel, and much more to do with what travel does to us. These five sets of modifications to ourselves are in the center of what makes travel so persuasive.

Traveling Enriches You, Before, During & After

The expectation of a trip is nearly as stimulating as the trip itself and the memories later. Knowing what you have ahead, and picturing it in detail, lends excitement to life, and alleviates the inclination to fall to a workaday rut. The more detailed the picture of the excursion, the more a future trip will excite you beforehand.

Throughout the trip, daily life could be extreme. Living in these moments entirely, and picturing everything about you, makes for a living. Clearly, this type of intensified experience is a quality of a style of travel that requires you past the bus and out to the squares and streets, landscapes and waterways, of the areas you’re visiting. Independent travel is a world apart from”included” travel.

Travel Broadens Your View of the World

Through travel, you obtain a framework for the background and important touchstones that attracted you to your present life and purpose in time. Now you’re standing in the wicked Borgia pope’s office, surrounded by the very walls which contained the guy with sufficient capability to compose a Papal Bull-a mandate-that maintained all of the prosperity of the Western Hemisphere for Spain and Portugal, and secured it to another 200 years. As you pause in the place where that occurred, the significance and events come alive with new meaning.

Now you’re looking down at the stairs that lead to a tube connecting the house of Leonardo da Vinci with the royal palace across the road. It was through this tube that King Fran├žoise traveled to sit and talk to his genius friend. And now you’re in Bayeux, where the French William the Conqueror built his naval vessels to cross the English Channel and claim the throne of England.

Each of those experiences broadens your perspective of the world and your firsthand awareness of time and location.

Travel Makes You Vibrant and Intriguing

Travel provides you something to look forward to… to prepare for… to study for… and after to share. You may bring home stories. Life can become somewhat monotonous if you allow it, especially after you retire and your work life finishes. Anticipation is worth at least as much as the trip itself and the memories that follow the excursion.

How much better to have travel stories and observations to share then to have your conversation restricted to your most recent physician visits and your frustrations with the weeds in your yard.

Traveling Re-Energizes You

Traveling, and the expectation of travel recaptures your excitement. You look ahead with excitement rather than experiencing the dulled-over feeling that comes from repetition and routine.

Traveling challenges one to be at your best and focused level. Comfort zones might be comfortable. But it is great for you to be taken out of your comfort zones frequently. Otherwise, your social skills can start to atrophy, and your ability to think on your feet and solve problems may decrease because of disuse.

Travel Enhances Your Health and Well-Being

Travel offers you a reason to remain healthy. Plus it keeps you sharp more! The challenges of traveling test your acuity on a daily basis. Traveling can be demanding, especially if you aren’t being”led around by the nose” on a group excursion. You know you will have to be on your feet – to be situationally aware – to pay close attention. You’ll have to walk broadly, including up and downstairs and hills.

Generally, by the time you return home from a trip, you’ll be in better shape than you’ve been for months or even years. And if you start immediately to expect another trip ahead, you’ll have a real incentive to maintain these improvements and be prepared for another time.

Benefits and changes

These changes and benefits to you from traveling can become permanent ones. Your life will get punctuated with enrichment, you may think more broadly. You’ll end up integrating deliberate lifestyle changes learned during the journey. You’ll be more lively and interesting as you’re periodically re-energized. And you’ll experience improved health and well-being.
